Global Iron Remover

Global Iron Remover is a white crystalline powder with a slight sulfur odor. It is used to remove iron and rust buildup which can foul water softeners and stain fixtures and clothing. It works as a reducing agent to chemically change rust back into a clear soluble state that easily rinses away. The main working ingredient is sodium hydro sulfite which creates a mild acid when mixed with water. It is commonly added directly to the brine tank along with salt to provide ongoing treatment when a water softener is applied on iron bearing water.

Care should be taken when mixing or handling this chemical due to its acidic nature and the release of sulfur fumes when mixed with water. Attention should be paid to proper ventilation. Contact with strong oxidizing agents or chlorine (bleach) should be avoided.
